Haryana government has revamped its policy to give impetus to housing
for the economically weaker sections under which every developer of a
licensed colony is bound to earmark plots for the EWS, to be
transferred to Haryana Housing Board. for the construction of
dwelling units.
In order to ensure that people belonging to weaker sections of
society, especially those below poverty line, get shelter, various
state governments have introduced policies for this purpose. Under the
new policy of Haryana government, the licensed developer is required
to reserve 20 percent of the total plots varying from 50 square meters
to 125 square meters for the EWS category. These plots are to be
transferred to Haryana Housing Board within six months of the approval
of zoning plan. The Housing Board after constructing units on these
plots, in accordance with the layout/zoning plan and allot these to
eligible beneficiaries in a transparent manner. The licensed developer
is also required to complete the development works pertaining to road,
power, water, sewerage within one year from the approval of zoning
plan or environment clearance whichever is later. Licensed developers
of group housing societies are required to construct 15 percent of
total number of flats in the project for EWS beneficiaries.
